With the popularity of cell phones, phone booths have long been a thing of the past. As a result, Irish telecom company Eir and electric vehicle charging network EasyGo began converting phone booths into electric vehicle charging posts about two years ago. This new infrastructure will benefit communities in the same way that public payphone booths once did.
EasyGo has committed to deploying 200 50 kW modular DC fast chargers across Ireland under the program, and the company currently has 2,400 chargers.
