Is CCS and J1772 the same?

CCS and J1772 are two different charging standards for electric vehicles. CCS (Combined Charging System) is a charging standard developed jointly by European automakers, while J1772 is a charging standard developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

Although CCS and J1772 are both standards for providing charging for electric vehicles, they differ in terms of physical interfaces and charging capabilities. The CCS standard uses a J1772 physical interface with two additional DC charging pins, which allows CCS to support higher power fast charging. The J1772 standard only supports AC charging, and the power is relatively low.

In general, CCS and J1772 have some things in common, but there are differences in terms of physical interfaces and charging capabilities. According to the needs of different regions and models, electric vehicle manufacturers usually choose the appropriate charging standards to meet the charging needs of users.
